I think that it is fascinating to sit and reflect on the idea that “we are where we are through the accumulation of many small decisions and actions over a lifetime.” Sure we may have had some outside and oversized influences that helped us to move forward (such as parents who helped us to get a great education) or maybe to set us back (such as a bad car crash that has left someone injured).

Those can be significant and cannot be ignored, however, I love what I read on Page 15 of the 7 Laws of the Mind, and that is “Our brain, created by the Master Architect (for me God) who does all things well, is just an operating system…. Hmmm… insert contemplative look here!

Until now I have not spent a lot of time consciously thinking about how much “my thoughts” regarding everything… in essence “my feelings”… have such a strong feedback loop to my thoughts about everything… which then create my beliefs about everything (and not just what I think I have beliefs on).

Those beliefs I know become the lens by which I interpret what I see and experience, but… before now I have not really thought much about how much that affects my own sense of everything and how pervasive that is to all aspects of my life.

This is a fun journey of self discovery, as I am really paying more attention as to what outputs my operating system is giving me, especially as I respond to complications, discouraging news, and issues that come up on a daily basis, as well as some of my current programming which I am now challenging!

I have known that how we respond (and not react) to what life throws at us is critical to success. I guess I have just never really thought about how much of that has been programmed “by me” and is riding on my operating system without me realizing it… and maybe running amok:) Excited to be working on some reprogramming!!

  • Well, Ken, thanks for sharing your excitement not only for your awareness, but for moving into action. Congrats! So few ever get to this point in their lives. You say it so well: “paying more attention as to what outputs my operating system is giving me, especially as I respond to complications, discouraging news, and issues that come up on a daily basis, as well as some of my current programming which I am now challenging!”
