I would have to guess that only about .01% of the USA population has heard of my little town in the middle of Wyoming where I was born and raised. Ten Sleep is the most amazing name for a little town!
I actually didn’t live in Ten Sleep, but that is where I went to school from 4th grade until graduation. Our ranch was 28 miles south of Ten Sleep on Upper Nowood Road.
My first years of school were spent in a little one-room schoolhouse on our cattle and horse ranch. I went to school with my three sisters, four other children from area ranching families, and our hired-hand’s two children. Our teacher was Mrs. Verna Davis.
During recess, we took turns being instructed by Mrs. Davis on the piano or learning parts of an upcoming play. Our recesses were spent climbing the big, high, red bluffs that surrounded the schoolhouse and fenced playground. We were a wild bunch of kids but rarely got into trouble.
We played a lot of hide-n-seek, cowboys and indians, annie, annie over, and other old-time games. In the winter our dad would give us a ride to school on the bob-sled pulled by either two or four horses, depending on how deep the snow was. We loved our little school and our amazing teacher.
Well, enough reminiscing of those enchanting days. I truly had the best childhood imaginable!
I grew up, went to college, was a missionary to the faraway country of Chile, came home and married a great man from Idaho. I still live in Idaho to this day.
We are the parents of 7 children, four boys and three girls. I’m a gramma of 17 lovely grandkids. I spent most of my adult life being their stay-at-home mom, although I did work as a substitute teacher in my children’s schools, which was fun for the most part.
Having grown up around livestock, I decided our children needed to learn about animals, including all the things that go with them; chores, breeding, feeding, cleaning up after them, birthing, and death.
Therefore, I bought 5 alpacas to begin with. That was an adventure that lasted 23 years until one day about 10 years ago my husband said to me, “I am done with alpacas!” He had been such a good sport since he didn’t even enjoy livestock!
He married a rancher’s daughter, and as the saying goes, “You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl!” It took me several years to sell the last of my 50 alpacas, and yes, I did shed a lot of tears when they left.
Fast forward a few years when I discovered the Mercedes of the dog breeds, Golden Doodles!
I spent 6 years raising these fun doggies and doing my best to educate my first-time dog owners on the proper way to train, feed, and care for their new puppy. I hung up my hat 18 months ago and now I spend time visiting our children and traveling some with my husband who will retire after 54 years of working hard to support us.
I don’t even know how I learned about Master Key Experience, but I knew that it could be life-changing if I did it, since I had never tried anything like this before. What sealed the deal was after I paid the $1 and ordered my Og Mandino book, a very mystifying thing happened!
The USED book finally arrived from Amazon. I opened up the front cover and there in front of me on the inside cover was the very distinct penmanship of my darling mother-in-law, Bonnie Hawkes.
I looked at it again, squinting my eyes, then burst into tears. I had the strongest impression that she had done whatever it took to get that book into my hands, and to signal to me, that this course was exactly what I needed!
I have things that I need to improve on, bad habits I need to stop doing and figure out how to achieve many of my lifelong dreams, that are now going to be fulfilled!
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you, my dear Bonnie passed to the other side in 2002. So here I am, doing all those things that I so need to make the significant change that I desire. Thank you Mark and Davene and the rest of you!
I am funny, happy, smart, friendly, helpful, playful, kind, and loveable towards animals and humans. I’m Georgia Diane
