At home in North Eastern Pa , an interview by Ted Baxter from Today in Real Estate with Troy Glowa, self made millionaire and entrepreneur, musician.

Ted} “So Troy thank you for taking the time to sit with me at your beautiful mountain home. Such a gorgeous home. How did it all start for you?”

Troy} “Well Ted I must say I’m not an overnight success I never had any real formal education other than high school! I always knew I wanted to do more with my life. Many years I’ve worked in different skills and trades, studied music and played music full time for awhile in my early 20s throughout my 20s actually. I was always searching for a way to do more and was involved in some Internet marketing companies back in the 2000s. I found my way into real estate 2015.”

Ted} “Yeah Troy let’s talk about that!! What got you started in real estate.”

Troy’} “There’s a friend of mine I knew from years ago from a different business who reached out to me. He was a realtor and he was just starting out and he introduced me to Keller Williams. He believed enough in me and thought I would do something with it. So I took a home study course and was able to pass the exam , becoming a realtor l that was pretty easy at that point. The hard part was actually working as a realtor and getting over myself and learning the skills.”

Ted} “Why did you make the switch to Exp?”

Troy} “Oh that was simple. I was currently working a full time job when I started my real estate career. I found it very difficult to get in any kind of training at Keller Williams during the days I was working at my job Keller Williams is a fantastic brokerage. I just couldn’t attend all the training so my friend made the jump to Exp, I didn’t hesitate to jump on board with him, the training I was able to access online at my leisure…. that really accelerated my growth.”

Ted} “Wow that sounds exciting so how did you transition into other things.”

Troy} “Well some of the skills and mindsets I learned through Exp and through other channels and programs. I’ve always been a big believer in self development. I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts and my I found myself being interested in real estate and rentals.”

Ted} “Was that difficult for you? How long did it take you to really get started?”

Troy} “More difficult in my mind I think. You can read and study all you want, but until you make the decision to do the first one and take the real physical action that’s when you really learn. If I purchase a property and factor in the management costs up front ,and then imagine this property’s hours away that I would need a manager to manage it regardless of where it is located. From step one I knew I could X myself out of the equation if I wanted and that property would be managed. I could just manage the manager!”

Ted} “ Well that’s an interesting thought Troy” , how long did it take you to become an icon agent with Exp?”

Troy} “Once I set a goal and wrote it down and put a date on it it seems like it only took a year although I struggled for many years before that my main focus with clients was I wanted to have a five star review I wasn’t interested in the Commission I didn’t care what kind of house they were buying I wanted to make sure that they were so happy with the process and I did such a great job that they would give me an awesome review and I knew if I had that everything else would fall in place.”

Ted} “But how did it feel to become an icon agent did you feel any different along the way or it just kinda hit you?”

Troy} “I could feel it through the actual work along the way. So I had to become that first in my mind as I was growing, and then I was able to attract the work I needed to do. I still needed to do the work, I just needed to attract it and I think it wouldn’t arrive unless my mind was right. So I really worked on my mindset. What you focus on expands.”

Ted} “WOW that’s awesome stuff, some real food for thought there, what made you decide to go into private money?”

Troy} “Yes I created a brokerage that enabled me to help others purchase single family homes as rental properties. I would provide them the financial means to do so and help others grow their portfolios very rewarding. That actually came from a thought from the whole NAR lawsuit with the commissions I was thinking of another way to provide a service and value to the public that was still real estate but it wasn’t MLS or owner occupied residential if that makes any sense.”

Ted} “Don’t mean to get off topic but I notice in your living room with the fireplace I’ve noticed in the corner you have a nice collection of guitars.”

Troy} “Yes it’s a bit of a passion of mine. I buy a lot of vintage guitars and amplifiers. I still play mostly for charity, my daughter just released her new album and she’s very passionate.”

Ted} “Yes I understand that your band is playing in the park this weekend for for a community event. I’d love to come out and see you guys.”

Troy} “Yeah, Ted, come on out see us and we start at six pm, It’s gonna be a real blast. it’s for a great cause. you can also check us out on my Instagram and some of the other resources I have in my business section on my website.”
