Focus on the Main Thing
Success leaves clues, and if you sow the same seeds, you’ll reap the same rewards. – Brad Thor
In the network marketing business I belong to, I have heard a few leaders mention keeping the main thing the main thing. Now that I am a student in the Master Key Experience (MKE), I am seeing where the influence of this mindset has come from. I am grateful for it.
I have been flying off the seat of my pants for years. Not being focused on the main thing has caused me to wander all over the place with no set destination. Once I arrive somewhere, I question myself if this is where I want to be.
The exercise of identifying what drives my economic engine, took me on an internal soul searching journey. I examined the words product knowledge, events, ordering material, prospecting, recruiting, bookkeeping, follow-up, retailing, training and conference calls.
Although these works can pertain to growing a business at the first glance, I digested them as focus words I can apply to the business of running my life. I picked out the top five that resonated with me. I moved onto rating them as instructed in the Week 20 introduction video.
Discovering the main thing has given me the focus I needed for years. I knew I needed to focus on bookkeeping but I constantly hesitate to focus and do it.
Now I have to make a plan and work it. I now have a main thing to develop and follow through on a written plan that lines up with my PPN of Liberty.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. – Stephen Covey

Jennifer, congrats on doing the exercise and coming up with your MAIN THING. You can imagine how many heard about the exercise and were shown how to do it…and didn’t do it. So applause, applause. And I’m cheering you on in your focus on bookkeeping for this round! Then I encourage you do the same exercise and keep reflecting on the next MAIN THING.
