Had a really big ah-ha this week when I considered what I got out of being late. I reflected back to why I had the attitude I did about being on time and my reasoning for such a thing.
The story goes something like this. I was raised in a family of 7 children. As such, getting to church on time was a real issue. It seems something was always happening. Something could not be found. Someone was in the bathroom. Someone was still eating.
Or someone was not finished doing what they were doing. You name it, and somewhere it had happened, was about to happen or was happening.
At any rate how were such things handled? Of course by raising your voice and adding the emotion of anger in the discussions. How else do most people handle getting someone else to do something you want them to do, but they aren’t of a mind to do it.
By yelling of course! I heard someone describe such scenarios in these words, stating that “by the time you get to Church, All True Religion was gone, long before you got there.”
This time I decided to reflect back on such things and examine my actions and thoughts. I saw for the first time that I had been a stubborn child who made the decision that if someone was going to do wrong and yell at me, then I was not going to do what they wanted and be ready on time.
Smart reasoning isn’t it. Sounds like the reasoning of a seven year old doesn’t it. Sounds like someone thinking two wrongs make a right.
This time I could see the negative peptides flying around and realized that I was getting the same negative peptide rush each and every time I had to get somewhere on time. Presto I had created a habit. A bad Habit. Finally I had a logical understanding of what had happened.
Now to change the thought pattern and reprogram my thinking about being on time. A challenge but desirable and doable. Imagine the True Religion I could experience by being on time to church, or anywhere else. Now there is a life changing thought.

It is wonderful to become aware of bad habits like that and know what to do about it. You might find more on your journey because of your awareness. Now you already know how to handle them.
Excellent insights, way to be the observer! And now you are ready to do something about it:)
