Control of Self Journey

Hello hello,

This week I am working on self-control. This one is proving to be a bit more difficult for me and obviously requires a bit more focus.

I’ve learned the hard way that the only person that I have control over is myself. There is a reason for that. Only I can take control of this vessel and I am here for a purpose.

There’s a saying in my family that goes, it takes me 24/7 to mind my own business, which is why my only concern had been what I think and how I show up in the world and not to worry about anyone else.

What I now understand is that I am the cause and the external is the effect so instead my family’s concept of being in control, where I have to protect myself to mind my own business, it’s the opposite and the only offense. I have to give of myself to mind my own business, in focus, intention and in presence.

Control of self on a mental, physical and spiritual level requires me to first be present. If I am in control of my ability to be present, I also have the ability to be in control of my mind, body and spirit. It is a practice but more importantly it is a choice.

We don’t wake up one day and all of a sudden have self-control. Yet through the law of practice, the law of growth and ultimately the law of attraction we can all learn Self-control for we can only reap what we Soe. Our actions have to be in alignment with the seeds sewn.

I am in self-control of how i act and react. My tone of my voice and my silence. I’m even in control of how I feel. As we all are.

Being aware of Self-control has brought so many things to light for me about myself. I see that I know what I’m supposed to do and even when I distract myself with something that I’m more comfortable doing, I come back to task.

I see that consuming information without application will not bring me success. I must practice. I see that it is me against me when it comes to my successes and that awareness is invaluable in this pursuit and indeed our responsibility for our growth.

I will continue in this practice of self-control and when I do, I know that very soon I will no longer distract myself because I will be inevitably in control of Self.

I am virtuous. I embody virtue. Self-control is the fruit that I will bear by continuing this practice!

I love this stuff!

Peace and Blessings,

  • You’ve nailed the essence of the exercise given by MKE by realising, firstly, that “I see that consuming information without application will not bring me success. I must practice”.
Also practising the 7 Laws of the Mind.
    Congratulations Lakia.

  • I like the idea of “it takes 24/7 to mind my own business”. My take on it is that, like you said, the only person I can control is me and I need to be doing that all the time. If 95% or more of the time subby is in control, then having the best blueprints to control my behavior is imperative! Of course there is still the matter of the remaining portion when my behavior is under conscious control, my guess is that will take care of itself.

    Thanks for sharing this!
