I Persist Until I Succeed

Several weeks ago we wrote a one-sentence DMP and repeated it out loud, over and over again with enthusiasm for 50 minutes, in a room with mirrors.

What I chose to write in that DMP was a specific goal that I had not yet articulated in my business but was necessary to the achievement of my DMP.

In the days following, I realized my goal could be much higher so I made some adjustments. I shortened the SMART goal timing and increased the number of memberships. That, coupled with December’s scroll, started me on a positive mental path toward achieving it.

After reading Scroll 3 from The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino, for the month of December, I had everything I needed to persist until I succeed.

My company gave us three weeks to reach a goal of having 20 people watch their new video. I was certain I could meet that goal and worked until nearly the end of the day December 31, 2024.

When I was falling short of the 20 that were my goal and the day grew too late for people on the East coast, I quickly pivoted to California and gained a few there!

Despite the realization that I had not started this challenge soon enough, I nearly lost sight of the fact that I persisted until the end because I realized, “How will I feel if I quit running before the end, and find out the next morning that more views had come in at the 11th hour and I could have made it if continued to persist?”

More views did come in late, before 11:59 California time, so I ended the day with 15 out of twenty. Next time I need a bigger list.

The good news is that my company is having a new contest and 14 views from December should roll over into that contest. I will just need 6 more to earn 500 points toward the new challenge.

My persistence paid off. I persist until I succeed. I had never worked so hard to get 20 views like that. Achieving that goal is something I can look back on with pride.

I learned important things about myself and how to do this business. I worked toward the achievement my new team will eventually work on and completing that exercise is a huge benefit. I am a better leader as a result and that is the greatest win of all.

Another pleasant surprise that came my way is that in order to participate in the current contest, I needed a team of company members to run with and I had not yet found my people.

In the last 24 hours of the last day to form a team I reached out to everyone I could think of and I either wasn’t hearing back or I wasn’t getting the help I needed. I believed this would happen, though, and in a few hours it did.

I got a call back from a woman who had another person ready to join and the three of us immediately created our team of three and even had extras.

What is really changing in me is belief. When I know something is reasonable I expect it to happen, even though despite being reasonable, it still takes faith to see and pursue it through to the end. I put this team out into the universe and now it is real.

I knew I needed to be in this contest, if only to earn the prize that anyone is eligible to win, and the only way I could be in the contest is to be on a team. We created the team 7 hours before the deadline. I realized I have a jump start on the first 500 points.

The sharp members started 14 days ago, despite the details only coming out Saturday, but at this point anyone can win and this time the prizes are more significant, like an African safari, for example. I love having a fresh start and this team is hot on the pursuit of success!

Mark often reminds us that we all have the same amount of faith. Do we just need to become aware of that fact and become confident in the knowledge that lack of faith is not what is holding us back?
