MKE Week 4 – Trusting the Leadership of Others

In my MKE journey so far, I’ve had to balance following my own guidance with trusting the guidance of the program.

I think I’m so used to receiving mediocre (or worse) guidance from certain types of professionals that I’ve become accustomed to thinking that I need to question the guidance I get from everyone.

In many places, that is a good habit. But in a lot of places it really isn’t. And the process with MKE has shown me the extent to which I have now likely over-compensated for the lack of solid, trustworthy guidance earlier on in my life.

When the MKE crew gave some of the instructions that they gave in weeks past, I mis-applied them. One of my earlier blog posts was about how they told me to pick an easy chore to start to build my subconscious’ habit of achievement – something I desperately need, and one of the biggest reasons I joined the course.

Instead of following the directions as instructed, I picked something complicated and difficult. The second week, I picked a simple chore, and the third week I picked something simple that would be really beneficial to me, but is the kind of thing I am likely to put off if possible.

I completed both my second- and third-week chores – and the process began to work. I experienced a burning desire and sense of elated pride when my third chore was accomplished, basically down to the second. It was a surprisingly forceful and positive sensation.

I don’t think I was considering quitting the class, but I am really struggling to keep up with it and with everything else I have to do. This feeling of success is likely to drive me to continue. I want to have more of that in my life on a daily basis, and I feel great about trusting the guides in the system. They know what they’re doing! In the case of MKE it really is a ‘trust the process’ experience.
