As I maneuver my way through this week, there ever increasingly seems to be a reoccurring theme- It’s All In the Journey! That is why this image just leaped off the page at me. All week long I have been reminded of The Hero’s Journey.

The Road Less Traveled

As we all walk and work our ways through life, we all carve our own paths, or journeys, if you will. Some are successful, some are less successful, and let’s face it, some are downright disastrous.

I think that most of us have fallen into at least one, two, or in many cases, mine included, all three of those categories. But, one thing I am coming to understand is that we all control the final outcome of that journey. We just have to be willing to change course when/if we find ourselves heading in a direction in which we had not intended to be traveling.

Is Yours Gravel or Pavement?

Along each of our travels, we are all surely to come upon struggles/problems. This is when we need to quiet ourselves and listen. Listen to not only others whom have undoubtedly gone before us, but also the universe.

For it, also, looks to answer our problems. As long as we allow our subconscious minds, and those 40,000,000 workers, to work for us and create the answers we need, as long as we give it the correct programming!

Shrek or Donkey?

In the timeless, novel, Shrek, we find the main character in a dilemma. He has a problem – his beloved home, the swamp, has been invaded by countless other characters because they have been displaced by the evil king. So, in order to get everyone to leave, he agrees to rescue the princess from the “evil” dragon.

In this journey, he encounters another character, Donkey, who helps him to not only solve his external dilemma, but also his internal one that no-one knows about, that internally he actually wants friends.

But being the big ugly Ogre makes it difficult to make friends, thus making Donkey not only a friend, but also a Mentor. I won’t spoil the movie for you, but everyone lives happily ever after. So, the question remains: Are you Shrek or are you Donkey?

The Choice Is Yours

So I finish my week as it began – looking to the future and knowing one thing, there are still a lot of choices left to make, choosing which direction to turn here and which way to go there. But I have learned one thing – it’s not necessarily the destination that matters.

Sometimes, It’s All In the Journey!
