What a truth “Every Moment Matters”, how precious the moments are. I was sitting and contemplating while in the moment. I discovered the last two weeks have been so refreshing.
What do I mean by that, some would question. Everything has been done succinctly. Crossing every “T”, dotting every “I”, line upon line, precept upon precept. Learning about oneself is a beautiful thing because you begin to discover you afresh.
Only to find out you are everything you never knew you were. What a revelation of large proportions. This is why “Every Moment Matters” watching my 5-year-old granddaughter over the Christmas and New Year holidays has been a refreshing awakening.
She has been a delight of energy non-stop for almost thirteen days, movement until the human factor is totally depleted of all energy. Then falling fast asleep only to rise the next morning even more energized.
Once upon a time that was me in my earlier years. What happened to my vitality, drive and stamina?
I haven’t lost it. Watching her every day, she would channel energy differently, dance, hide and seek, high impact fun, low impact fun, a million questions, mischievousness. Never the same way, always different.
After Michael Jordan retired from basketball and signed with the minor leagues for a season, he then returned to basketball. He stated that his game approach had to change, he no longer felt the need to be Air Jordan.
He chose to be the technician of mastering the court 45 feet from the goal. He perfected his shot and changed the way he chose to play the game.
Watching my granddaughter, I understood MKE better. Everyone always tells you think like a five-year-old. That’s a stretch for me sometime because the sixty-five-year-old always shows up where not invited.
But being the observer of a five-year-old gives a different perspective. I watched the innocence, fearlessness, joy and can-do attitude simply go through life’s motion unassumingly as though the rules were meant to be broken and no ceiling was made to contain her.
MKE is constantly shouting “ DO IT, DO IT NOW”. What a beautiful journey this is because keeping everything in the now is how I am processing and “Every Moment Matters” right now!!
I completely agree, Carolyn. Roosevelt, you are indeed an inspiration!
Roosevelt, your blog shows how much we can learn from watching kids like your granddaughter. You have a great way of seeing the big lessons in simple moments. Thank you for the powerful reminder of how every moment counts. You are an inspiration!
