Being the Observer
It’s no secret that My Boy Koda is my World! Even when communication breaks down between myself and my significant other, there is Always My Boy!
Last week, I felt a “calling”. I was being pulled toward an event that was taking place at 9 am Saturday morning, just outside of Philadelphia. So, after my shift ended Friday night, where I deliver food till 9pm, I high-tailed it down to Philly and check into a hotel just after midnight.
I attended the event the next morning and then came home around 7 or 8 pm that same night. My boy was very anxious because he hadn’t seen me in a day or 2 so I took him to the dog park Sunday afternoon.
As we approached the park, there was a gentlemen playing fetch with his dog, in the park. Koda and I entered, I took his leash off, tails were wagging, butts were getting sniffed, everything was going fine, until it wasn’t.
The 2 dogs erupted into a very nasty fight. This other dog was a pitbull about 1 and a half times bigger than Koda and he instantly had Koda’s shoulder in his mouth! I bear-hugged my boy and got him to the ground, the other owner on top of his dog, also trying to control him.
It was at this moment, that i witnessed myself saying over and over, …. Please let my boy go, Please let my boy go, Please let my Boy go!! A year and a half ago, I was a much different individual.
I KNOW, I would’ve been incredibly angry and aggressive and probably would’ve started pounding that dogs face till he stopped moving and most likely would’ve killed my boy in the process.
BUT I was different, I was subservient, just begging for my boy to be released from harm and it finally happened! Koda and the other dog were separated for a second and that’s when the other dog got a hold of my leg and had some fun, he then let go of me and got Koda again by the hind leg.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, both dogs were separated. I got to my feet with blood gushing down my leg and from my hand. Koda had some sort on his leg and as I limped away with my boy, I saw the other man, face down , spread eagle on top of his dog, with the pitbull’s face just barely visible under the guys belly.
We are Both OK! Koda went to the vet on Monday and is on antibiotics, Terra took good care of me and got dressings on my wounds and we are healing!
I just want to say here and now that I am Grateful for you Mark! I am Grateful for what you have created here! I am grateful for the tools that probably saved my boy’s life!!
