MKE Week 9 – Progress Doesn’t Equal Balance

This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about balance and the myth that surrounds it.

I strive for it, and I’m constantly told that balance is the key to a good life and it’s even part of the name in one of my companies.

But what about when I’m building something?

I’m in creation mode? Am I really balanced.

The truth is, progress and balance often don’t coexist all the time for me, at least not at the same time.

There is no doubt I can achieve balance, but if I want to move something forward, if I want to achieve greatness in any area of my life, I find myself unbalanced for a while.

And that’s okay for me.

In fact, I know it’s necessary. The idea that I can create meaningful change and remain perfectly balanced is a comforting illusion. Real progress often requires imbalance, it requires an uneven focus, a commitment that tips the scales in favor of my goals.

But that imbalance isn’t permanent; it’s just part of the process.

##My Current In-Balance

This course, the Master Key Experience (MKE), is one of those times where I’ve had to embrace the imbalance.

I felt the pull to get back into a mode of creation, to take my practice deeper, to focus, to immerse myself and this course showed up at the perfect time.

I’ve always had a solid morning practice, but now, adding three structured sessions a day plus my own personal practice has created an imbalance in other areas of my life.

But I’m okay with that. I know that the benefits will far outweigh any temporary disruption.

*”Have you ever tried to balance a scale that is constantly in motion. Sometimes, you need to lean fully into the process, trust the direction, and know that balance will find you when the time is right.”*

For me progress often comes in waves, times when go all in, put in the extra effort, and let other areas of my life take a back seat.

It’s not about neglecting everything else forever; it’s about understanding that the focus I bring to something now will set the foundation for balance later on. The temporary imbalance is an investment in my future self.

## Staying Present to What Is….

As much as I am creating my future, it’s important for me to stay present to what is.

To all the amazing things I have already created in my life.

The relationships, the experiences, the growth.

They’re all part of the foundation I stand on now.

It’s easy to get caught up in the forward momentum, always thinking about the next thing to achieve. But true balance comes from also appreciating where I am, right now. It comes from recognizing the progress I’ve already made and being genuinely grateful for it.

This week has been about embracing that paradox, being unbalanced in pursuit of something greater, while also staying deeply present to the moment. It’s a delicate dance, but one worth watching.

Because ultimately, the goal isn’t just progress.

It’s progress that I can enjoy. It’s building a future while fully appreciating what I have now.

My wife, our family and friends, the life we have created in Costa Rica and our health.

We are truly surrounded by abundance right now and I’m so grateful for that.

  • Its not so much a pushing forward, I’ve committed to it and its just about fully diving in.

  • This really helped me Ahren. I’ve been feeling quite a substantial imbalance with the service load the MKE is requiring. I have certainly noticed that my social time, family time and work time has been neglected in favour of trying to fully embrace MKE. What I took from your post is that balance can come in ebbs and flows, rather than a constant baseline.
