Every generation has a new “fast-paced” world. And being part of a given generation, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of needing to get somewhere and forgetting where we are now. But what if life was approached now in the moment? Would that have us slow down and enjoy the process? I believe it would – It has for me. Continually shifting from the doing and checking in on the being has created a healthier way of life for me.

There’s no better place than the here and now to free us from the worries and distractions that cloud our thinking from creating something new that won’t serve us in a positive way. And the best way I found to get present is to focus on my breath. The pause between the inhalation and the exhalation is the perfect moment to be genuinely present. No judgment – just acceptance.

We frequently judge ourselves too harshly for our errors and flaws or for not being where we believe we “ought” to be. Being present at the moment encourages us to embrace self-acceptance, acknowledging that we are sufficient just as we are. This means letting go of the constant need to change, fix, or improve ourselves instead of embracing our inherent worth.
Life is a delicate balance between work, rest, connection, and solitude. When this balance is disrupted, feelings of overwhelm, burnout, or estrangement from oneself and others can arise. Getting present encourages us to tune in to our needs and create a sense of harmony between the different areas of our lives.

Many attempt to control every facet of our lives, believing perfect management can prevent discomfort or disappointment. However, control is often illusory. Life’s unpredictability means that many outcomes are out of our hands. Embracing the moment and how you are in the moment is a way of being present. Learning to release control and placing trust in the journey is freeing. By letting go of perfectionism and accepting that not everything needs to be known now, you discover tranquility in the uncharted.

Patience and practice create new habits and transform your life. Grateful for my new journey in MKE.
