Week 1 of the Master Key Experience is honestly a bit overwhelming just like I remember the first day of each year of school all of those years ago. The first weekly webinar included a review of all the many requirements for success: weekly classes, multiple readings to read 3 times a day, and deadlines that must be met to continue on.
It seems this actually is just like school.
That first webinar explained we’ll be establishing new habits and learning to unlearn the subconscious habits we’ve picked up since childhood. It sounds exciting but will no doubt be confusing and even rather difficult.
BUT, we get a guide! It’s somebody who’s been through this before and will help coach us through the process, not to tell us what to create but to guide us to create something authentically our own.
What I loved the most during the first session is the founder, Mark, who kept saying (paraphrased of course), “in your first blog you can even write, ‘that Mark guy is crazy!’ if you want.” He even said it multiple times. What struck me is how congruent that sentiment is with what we’re attempting to achieve.
If we’re breaking our subconscious habits formed over years of absorbing lessons on “how to act” and venturing off outside the norm to forge a new path, wouldn’t a lot of others maybe see that as “crazy”?
Our very first assignment is to write our own DMP (Definite Major Purpose). It’s daunting looking at a blank page (it must be written by hand!) and hoping to manage to encompass all of your future goals and dreams. It’s only a first draft but the pressure remains.
Remembering to do the readings three times a day is also daunting but luckily alarms and reminders are easily scheduled on one’s phone.
One of our two main source texts is “The Greatest Salesman in the World” by Og Mandino. While reading “The Scroll Marked I” this week two bits of text really stood out to me (both from page 56 of the Mass Market Paperback edition published by Bantam in 1983):
- “As I repeat the words daily they will soon become a part of my active mind, but more important, they will also seep into my other mind, that mysterious source which never sleeps, which creates my dreams, and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend.”
- “…for any act with practice becomes easy.”
I can see what this experience is built to achieve and it excites me. We practice and repeat inputting lessons into our minds until our subconscious takes over to make the lessons automatic. It makes perfect sense but sounding simple doesn’t mean it will be easy.
I have a good idea of where this will lead and the details are still out of focus but that’s okay.
This is just the beginning.

It is a very thoughtful blog, Jason. I can see you have a really good grasp on what this MKE journey is about. Excited for you and looking forward to seeing your progress over the next few weeks. It is very powerful practice that we build each day.Enjoy!
Welcome! This is just the beginning!!!!
Like school, except you are in charge. That makes all the difference. YOUR DMP is YOUR syllabus. Mark’s program helps you understand how to develop the fertile ground in which to plant and nurture your DMP. How exciting is that?
I can contest, Mark is a little crazy. But aren’t we all? Maybe that is just another way to explain our uniqueness. So happy you are here.
My favourite Mark phrase is Fohgetabooutit and of course peace be the journey. Enjoy the journey Jason 🙂
