Week 6: The Art of Having No Opinion
Embarking on Week 6 of the Master Key System, I was tasked with the seemingly simple activity of “having no opinion.” Piece of cake, right? Just keep my thoughts to myself and glide through the week like a Zen master. Well, let me tell you, it was anything but easy!
Day 1: I woke up with the determination of a warrior. “No opinions today,” I told myself. By breakfast, I had already failed. The toast was too burnt, the coffee too bitter, and don’t even get me started on the news. Back to Day 1.
Day 2: Armed with a new strategy, I avoided all opinion-inducing situations. I skipped the news, avoided social media, and even dodged conversations about the weather. But then, my cat decided to knock over a plant. “Why, Mittens, why?” I exclaimed. Oops, back to Day 1.
Day 3: I decided to embrace the chaos. Opinions were flying left and right, but I was determined to catch them before they escaped my lips. It was like playing a mental game of whack-a-mole. By the end of the day, I was exhausted but proud. I had made it to Day 2!
Week 7: The 7-Day Mental Diet
Just when I thought I had mastered the art of having no opinion, Week 7 hit me with the 7-Day Mental Diet: “Have no negative thoughts. If you do, go back to Day 1.” Challenge accepted!
Day 1: I started the day with positive affirmations and a smile. Everything was going great until I stubbed my toe. “Ouch! Why does this always happen to me?” I grumbled. Back to Day 1.
Day 2: Determined to stay positive, I filled my day with uplifting music and motivational quotes. But then, traffic hit. “Why is everyone driving so slow?” I muttered. Back to Day 1.
Day 3: I decided to take a different approach. Whenever a negative thought popped up, I would immediately replace it with a positive one. “This traffic is terrible” became “This gives me more time to enjoy my favorite podcast.” Progress! I made it to Day 2!
The Journey Continues
As I navigate these challenging weeks (Oops! Negative thought! Now back to Day 1 I go!), I’ve learned that progress isn’t always linear. Some days, I feel like I’m on top of the world, and other days, I’m back at square one. But each reset is a chance to learn and grow.
So, here’s to the rollercoaster ride of self-improvement! With each twist and turn, I’m becoming more mindful, more positive, and more resilient. And who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll make it through a whole week without resetting. Until then, I’ll keep trying, one day at a time.

What a wonderful writer you are, Beverley! You conveyed the angst of “no opinion” and “no negative thought” SO INCREDIBLY WELL! All through you showed your determination and positive mental attitude! Yay!
You are doing great Beverley
I am looking to get past day 1 at this time we press on.
Wow the insights
WoW Beverley I’m impressed with your determination and strategies to master both no opinions or negative thoughts. Yes, they seem like simple tasks until you try to implement them. Great exercises to make us aware of our actual thoughts, whether we speak them or just think them. I recognize the cement that we all have covering our Golden Buddah. Opps to myself. We’re supposed to contribute to each other’s blogs, but is that not an opinion? Just an observation. Thank you for sharing.
