Enthusiasm

I am finding that the silence I engage in prior to going to bed is bliss, especially after a long day. This silence, that sacred hour prior to bed, is incredible. It has become necessary.

It’s a time I often complete my gratitude cards. I have continued with the Franklin Makeover. This week I focused on enthusiasm. I found several examples of enthusiasm.

The Starbucks employee who handed me coffee was enthusiastic, which is incredible. It is interesting to juxtapose her enthusiasm with the enthusiasm of Starbucks employees at another nearby restaurant protesting on Christmas Eve. Both were enthusiastic Starbucks employees, one in service of Starbucks and the other protesting their service to Starbucks.

I wonder who was more content.

The manager of a Planet Fitness I use is always enthusiastic when he greets people – and he does so with a smile. He greets men he knows with the term ‘brother.’ A client I am working with always speaks enthusiastically, even after she lost a home she had in contract. She is a faithful individual.

How does one muster so much enthusiasm? This is something I must learn to do – show greater enthusiasm. Showing greater and genuine enthusiasm would certainly help me be happier and create greater success. Now I do show enthusiasm.

For instance, I show enthusiasm when I am describing a subject I love and/or understand, such as certain science, particularly quantum physics, as well as history, and my profession. I become enthusiastic when I discuss real estate contracts and negotiating.

I am enthusiastic about my Civic because it has such incredible gas mileage, saving me a boat load of money. I drive a lot! I enthusiastically exercise (ran 5k yesterday at the gym) and I enthusiastically write. I am enthusiastic about running. I become enthusiastic when describing some books.

Recently, I have been enthusiastic about Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. More and more of that book continues to tie into the Master Key Experience material we are studying in class. So I do see enthusiasm everywhere.
