Healthy attachment to a loving spouse or child, is good. When an attachment is detrimental to our physical or mental well-being, it’s time to detach. An unhealthy attachment may be a dependence on alcohol, drugs, relationship, and yes, negative thoughts.

This week, half of Americans received an opportunity to learn about and practice detachment. I had to detach from my own dreams for my country.

Detachment doesn’t mean you don’t care anymore or that you’re selfish. It doesn’t mean you don’t grieve your loss. It means that you let go because you can’t influence the outcome.

We cannot control what happens so we detach in order to survive. It is a positive habit of taking care of ourselves. The habit of obsessing about negative consequences only creates suffering, anxiety, fear and unhealthy chemicals flowing through our bodies.

The Master Key Experience is teaching us how to get what we want and detach from the outcome. Sounds crazy, right? We can control what we think but the outcome will be what we want or something greater! The bad habits are replaced with new positive habits through reading, vocalizing our goals, creating associations, listening to webinars, and more.

I believe, trust and have faith that the Universe is always benevolent. Detachment may sound disempowering, but it’s not. Detachment gives you the power you need to focus on creating. You still have goals and dreams.

I have let go and detached myself from the politics and talking heads by not watching the news. I have replaced my fear with hope for a bright future that I could not have imagined. I think about all the wonderful things I am creating and I do the work of changing. And so it is.
