A Simple Act of Kindness: Sharing Garden Scraps with My Neighbor
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget the small acts of kindness that can brighten someone’s day. Recently, I found an opportunity to connect with my neighbor in a meaningful way while also contributing to our health and the environment.
As a health-conscious parent, I prioritize keeping my daughter and myself strong and immune-boosted.
One of the ways we do this is through juicing. I love creating delicious and nutritious blends using fresh ingredients like ginger, turmeric, lemon, beets, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic, spinach, pineapple, and apples. The vibrant colors and flavors not only nourish our bodies but also add a sense of joy to our mornings.
While juicing, I realized that I often have scraps left over, which made me think of my neighbor, who has a lovely garden. I remember seeing her tending to her plants and how passionate she is about growing her own food. Inspired by this, I decided to gather the scraps from my juicing process—things like peels, stems, and cores—and place them in a bag.
Once I had the scraps ready, I set them on the wall that separates our homes, along with a text to my neighbor. I let her know that I’d left the bag for her and suggested that it could be beneficial for her garden. These scraps could help enrich the soil and nourish the plants she’s growing.
Acts of kindness don’t have to be grand gestures; sometimes, they’re as simple as sharing what we have. By reaching out to my neighbor, I not only contributed to her garden but also reinforced a sense of community and connection.
It reminded me that kindness can blossom in the most unexpected ways, and small actions can lead to a greater impact. Let’s continue to spread kindness, one simple act at a time!
What a thoughtful gift for your neighbor. I love this!
What an incredible act of kindness. You not only helped your neighbor but also the planet. Instead of going to a landfill, they nourished the earth.
Thank you so much for your article. I think it is so kind that you are sharing with your neighbors. I do wish I could get some of your poundcake. I love it.
Way to go on showing you, your daughter and your neighbor all the care and support! This example will “grow” on forever!
