Courage Progress

My first week in the Franklin method was all about courage, which is the hardest one for me to do at times.

I had chance to muse on “courage” more since my blog last week, as I was “forced” into a challenging situation that made me think about how I wanted to respond, not react.

In a normal reaction, I would have burned a bridge that I really didn’t want to burn, so I let myself chill on the topic for a couple days before I responded. The situation was an offer of “help” from someone that was really more of a “this is how I want you to do it now”.

The courage piece for me in my response was that I actually thanked the person for the offer of help, and then I told her that I didn’t need it, that I was good, and that I would stick to my original plan. In the past I would have caved on something, but I stood my ground and didn’t burn the bridge.

This situation brought up a perfect chance to do a life review of the past few years on my “courage” improvement.

I really have come so far, as when I joined my direct sales company almost 3 years ago now, I was still so withdrawn, didn’t like to be on Zooms, let alone on camera, didn’t ask questions and didn’t volunteer to do Zooms or trainings or anything else.

That’s all changed for the better, to the point that I started another business with a partner to do presentations and workshops LOL.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot – last Friday, I had 3 conversations where I went head-on into a topic that I normally avoid like the plague. It started with my seminar partner and then continued on with a leader in each of my two direct sales companies.

The topic was “let’s address the elephant in the room” and it was different between each of them, yet I was able to keep it together and come out of each conversation feeling better for having had the conversation.

That was huge for me, because as a blue I hate confrontation of any kind, so to be able to ask and talk about it all was such a relief for me. It was also very illuminating too.
