Kindness and This Week

It’s been an interesting week to say the least. The whole focus on kindness I have absolutely loved. My favorite scroll in the Greatest Salesman was Scroll II about greeting the day with love in my heart. That month was transformational for me.

This week has been interesting because I have to keep reminding myself to try to be kind. I think I have capitulated a bit to personal stresses and family situations and worries and job challenges.

Not my finest effort this week, but I have made the effort and I will continue to do make the effort. I’m aware kindness is closely aligned with the mental diet. As long as I focus on the mental diet, kindness seems to follow. When I drop that ball, kindness sometimes takes a back seat when it shouldn’t.

My personal experience with focusing on kindness is that not only do I help others feel happier and better about themselves, but I am a much happier person. Sometimes I have to fight through feelings of fear or doubt and manifest kindness in spite of things that are going on around me. I guess therein lies the challenge as we grow and change.

My main business has been real estate for more than three decades. Truthfully, it’s not a very nice or kind business. It can be pretty cutthroat, and I’m not a fan of expensive clothes and big expensive cars and putting on a dog just to impress people that many do in my area.

I have probably held myself back from working with more affluent clients to some extent. It’s just not who I am and I’d rather serve my fellow man who needs honesty and caring to help them make positive changes in their living situation.

This week, I did sneak in some Apple danish treats to my office late in the day on Wednesday so the people would be surprised in the morning. I just left a sticky post on the package that said “Enjoy”. I certainly hope they did!
