Follow the Compass not the Clock
Much of life is spent comparing ourselves to others. I was frustrated with my progress chipping through the cement to find my true heartfelt desires and it wasn’t progressing like I thought it should.
I was looking at the progress of others and feeling discouraged that I wasn’t getting it. Those negative thoughts kept popping up and I felt like I was playing championship whack-a-mole. Then Drew Timm shared in our group huddle that each of us is exactly where we needed to be.
I felt the truth of that statement with every fiber of my being. I felt a release of judgment wash over me. Follow the compass not the clock. It’s the direction that matters and not the speed.
OG Mandino wrote “I will persist until I succeed” in The Scroll Marked III. Persistence is also key to replacing old habits with new ones. Showing up and being disciplined to do the work isn’t easy but it must be intentional. It’s getting easier the more I do the exercises.
It is so hard to break the patterns I learned in the first seven years of life. If subby was programmed early on, and drives what I do today, then I need to reprogram my minds with things that advance what I desire today.
All of the exercises we are doing build upon each other. The constant repetition and visual cues are helping to replace lifelong negative patterns. It really is getting easier.

I read your blog and had a tears for a moment, tears of happiness. Often we don’t realize how much our truths have an effect on others… until we read them! It’s heartfelt knowing that a simple statement was Key to your evolution and continued persistence! And yes, you are exactly where you are supposed to be at this moment!
This is so powerful, and I love how you’re embracing persistence and letting go of comparison. Drew’s reminder that we’re exactly where we need to be is such a gift, and you’re clearly showing up and doing the work. Keep following that compass—your progress is real, and it’s beautiful to see!
It’s great you’re seeing progress in your self! That’s hard for a lot of us but keep it up you’re doing great. Like OG said “Always I take another step” ! Nice job!
I’m so glad it’s getting easier, Donna. That is progress!
