Celebrating the Wins
This week has been a whirlwind of celebrations and visits with friends. The holidays in Costa Rica bring a unique energy, festive and relaxed, filled with moments to pause and reflect on life’s simpler pleasures. Through it all, one practice has kept me grounded: using index cards.
While I’ve practiced morning gratitude before, it often felt like a fleeting exercise, write and forget. Now, writing four new cards daily, knowing I’ll review them regularly, has transformed this practice.
Each card becomes a deliberate act of recognition, capturing feelings I want to revisit throughout my day.
What’s great is how this practice is reshaping my relationship with achievement. While humility has been a cornerstone of my mindset, it sometimes held me back from acknowledging successes.
These index cards flip that dynamic, allowing me to celebrate wins multiple times daily – not to inflate my ego, but to recognize the effort, resilience, and growth behind each accomplishment.
The practice fits seamlessly into my pre-work routine. Before tackling services that advance my DMP, I review my cards. It’s like an internal reset button – a moment of gratitude and clarity that shapes how I approach my next service.
Most importantly, this practice subtly reinforces positivity. By focusing on wins, my attention naturally shifts from what’s lacking to what’s been achieved. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the gap between current reality and future goals, I’m energized by visible progress.
This is awesome Ahren, It is good to have that…reset button….almost to remind us of the incredible beings we are.
Ahren….yes, this is exactly how Week 13 impacted me as well….what amazing observations you had. Let’s keep up with the gratitude…I agree, it is soooo powerful!
Thank you Ahren for sharing your experience using the flash cards. I’ve been working on my cards but have not fully integrated them into my daily routine. Your sharing has inspired me to do it now, do it now, do it now. The red in me wanted nicely printed cards which I have worked on yesterday and today. You really helped me. With much gratitude and appreciation. Julie
What a great tip… I’m going to start flashing my cards before I do my tasks.
