Embracing Gratitude: My lessons from the first three Scrolls of The Greatest Salesman in the World
In the hustle and bustle of my everyday life, I have often found it easy to overlook the simple yet profound power of gratitude. Inspired by Og Mandino’s wisdom in The Greatest Salesman in the World, particularly the lessons from the first three scrolls, I have come to realize how embracing gratitude has transformed my perspective and experiences.
Here is how these scrolls have shaped my understanding of gratitude in my life:
Scroll I: The Power of Habits
The first scroll emphasizes the importance of forming positive habits, teaching me that my actions shape my destiny. By cultivating a habit of gratitude, I have learned to rewire my brain to focus on the good in my life.
Each morning, I take a moment to express gratitude for the important things — a warm cup of coffee, a kind word from a friend, or the beauty of nature around me. This simple practice shifts my mindset, allowing me to approach each day with optimism and appreciation.
Scroll II: The Choice to Love
The second scroll highlights the choice to love, and I’ve discovered how gratitude and love are deeply intertwined in my life.
When I choose to be grateful, I open my heart to love more fully. In my interactions with family, friends, and colleagues, I strive to express appreciation for their contributions.
Acknowledging their efforts not only strengthens our relationships but also fosters a sense of community and belonging in my life. Gratitude becomes a powerful force that propels me to uplift others, creating a ripple effect of positivity.
Scroll III: Living in the Present
The third scroll teaches the importance of living in the present moment, a lesson I have found invaluable. It’s all too easy to get caught up in regrets about the past or worries about the future, but gratitude anchors me in the now.
I’ve learned to take a step back and appreciate the present — whether it is enjoying a quiet moment, celebrating a small victory, or simply being with loved ones. This mindfulness allows me to fully experience life and recognize the abundance that surrounds me.

What a great application of gratitude with each of those scrolls. I’m grateful for the wisdom you shared.
This is so beautiful. I am so very happy for you.
