Haanel’s statement that thought will bring conditions in correspondence with the predominant mental attitude is significant. It is true. When we think good, good things happen. When we think bad, dwell upon our fears, deep into the worst possible outcomes, those outcomes happen. Whatever we think comes to pass.

We’ve all experienced this. Too often, I’ve dwelled on the worst possible outcomes. I’ve dwelled, too often, on all outcomes. It’s good to plan. It’s good to think of the possibilities and plan for those possibilities.

But it is bad to allow for those possibilities to control one’s thinking, to create a cycle in which thinking of those possibilities leads to the realization of those possibilities. it’s best to control those possibilities, to create the outcome that one desires.

That’s because what one fears often comes to pass. And I know that that has held me back, has hurt me, has crippled me.

So, I prefer to live as Mandino says: to ignore obstacles at one’s feet and to keep one’s eyes on the goals above one’s head.

I now focus on doing this. When that negative thought creeps into my mind, I observe the intrusion and say to myself that I must dwell on the positives, the goals – the definitive major purposes.

I must not dwell on all of the possible negative outcomes. Doing so takes over each cell of our body as does cancer and leads to potentially fatal sickness of the spirit and the mind.

So I pledge to think good – focus on those goals, focus on the good that will be and is now, focus on my DMP.
