I love the list of chores I am starting each week! My first week’s chore was to clean the basement. I went to lunch at a boutique hotel in Niagara for my birthday last week and saw this peaceful yet charming library there.
One of my favourite things to do is to go to the library and read or study. I said to myself that if I get a bigger house in the future, I would like to make one room a huge library like this one. Then, a light bulb came into my head. Why don’t I make my basement into a library now?
So I started cleaning up, taking out stuff I didn’t need in the basement, and building bookcases filled with books I had. It became a beautiful library for my family. My husband and my daughter were amazed and loved it! I never thought a small chore could become this beautiful end project that the whole family can now enjoy. This motivated me to start organizing every part of my house.
One huge change was to remove many old picture frames, which were all over each room, living room, basement, dining room, etc. I wanted to live in the present and not in the past, so those old photos did not satisfy me now, but they took up too much space in my areas of the house. I took them all down and kept only a few, creating more space of calm. My husband loved it!
Can’t wait to see my new house with less stuff but inviting calm and peace.

Wow, amazing, all the changes you’ve already made. Looking forward to seeing more to come!
I enjoyed your blog so much… for many years I too ensure the photos are recent and downsize to what is most useful in the home… I find clearing space gives me a clearer mind.
That is so awesome Linda! The chore card absolutely rocks.
