MKE Week 3 – I think I see an Oasis up ahead

minutes remaining

I was still trying to catch up on everything and still feeling somewhat overwhelmed by all the coursework that was to be accomplished every week. I had already printed the study materials for each of the past three weeks and thought I was sufficiently organized but then when I spent over five minutes looking for one piece of information, I knew I had even more work to do. Oh, my!

Then, I had to spend even more time reviewing prior courses to make sure I understood everything that was being taught. The reality is that unlike a math course, or a political science course, or any other course in higher education where you know what to expect, this was a self-discovery course like no other course; part psychology, part self-discovery, part recreating yourself into the best version of yourself and part retraining your subconscious mind, or ‘Subby’ as Mark J. calls him. I was feeling parched from the voluminous information I was willingly being fed.

Then Mark J offered a glimpse of a book he had written, “Standing Tall” in a pdf and I knew I needed to know where I might end up at the end of this Master Key Experience. I printed the 15 pages of the pdf and started reading it that evening.

That’s when I realized ‘aha’ moments to come in this Master Key as long as I didn’t give up. That’s when I had the feeling that even though I was still in a personal desert, off in the distance I could see what looked like palm trees standing tall and strong around an oasis. I knew I would find water to hydrate this raisin of a person and that all I needed to do was stay the course.

  • Thank you for your kind words…I am so looking forward to a new ‘me’ that will achieve awesome things….’because I have not the luxury of eternity’ as Og Mandino states in The Greatest Salesman in the World’.

  • This post captures the essence of perseverance and self-discovery so beautifully! Your honesty about feeling overwhelmed and the struggle to keep up with the coursework is something so many of us can relate to. Yet, it’s your determination and realization that make this journey so inspiring. I love how you’ve painted a picture of this course being unlike any other—a blend of psychology, self-discovery, and recreating the best version of yourself. The metaphor of finding yourself in a desert, yet seeing palm trees and an oasis in the distance, is so powerful. It’s a reminder that even when the path feels difficult and overwhelming, if we stay committed and trust the process, we’ll eventually find the nourishment we need to grow. Thank you for sharing your journey and for reminding us all to keep going, even when things seem tough. Those ‘aha’ moments are waiting for us just around the corner!
