MKE Week 3 – Subby, Thanks for the Resistance!

Honestly, my own subconscious resistance as I become more and more aware of it has become my best from and the equivalent to a compass to guide me and my focus.

Let me explain further… in my first call this week with my 2024/25 tribe a question arose that triggered this realization of how the exercises of MKE have embedded a habit regarding resistance that is truly a blessing. No longer do I have an excuse for not taking action and “Doing it Now!”

The triggering question spawned a diagram of a common If-Then loop used in software development or management decision making/risk mitigation processes. Let me lay foundation based on our Sunday calls, Og Mandino and Master Keys readings.

First, our or rather my subconscious has a prime objective of helping me survive, i.e., avoid the unknown and untested things that come into my life. This includes me and my fanciful idea that I can consciously change my life by changing behaviors and thus manifesting new and unknown outcomes. Subby sees this as risky behaviors and exerts efforts to block, stall and eliminate suck tom foolery.

And what is the strongest pathway to preventing these manifestations in subby’s toolbox, you guessed it, fear! Fear of failure, fear I do not have the skills or the knowledge necessary, or the time, the money, the supportive family or any number of negative self-talk and their accompanying emotions.

Ah! but I have realized these too are blessings subby brings to my attention. I will now paint an image of a movie scene wherein a victim is confronted by a robber who demands to know where the gold, jewels and cash are hidden in the room. The victim, while all the movie viewers are shouting “don’t look at the safe behind the painting!” does exactly that, of course.

We have all seen it one hundred times, it’s the tell in a card game and movie scripts frequently often overused.

Here is the discovery… Subby has a tell! When you feel those negative emotions or hear negative self-talk about doing a particular thing that would progress your DMP (Definite Major Purpose) and your life, Subby is telling you that the action you are thinking of will cause a change. As long as it clearly not a mortal risk, you have discovered something that you should Do It Now!

Here is yet another adjustment to your sniper scope so you may target that action that may be the highest priority. Within my weekly OATs, I begin it with a 15 minute “sit” and apply the first three parts/exercises of the Master Key readings, be still, clear mind and relax muscles. As I come out of that exercise, I read each paragraph in my DMP and ask, “what shall I do this week regarding dated goal #1?”

Then I listen…

As the tasks I need to “Do Now” appear, I write them down. I find each is an incremental step to bring me nearer to manifesting my DMP objectives. Now, here is the trick. Not always, but frequently, Subby whispers oh, you don’t want to do that one this week or you don’t know enough to take on this one.

That to me, is Subby’s tell. Subby has just indicated which task or tasks are a threat to the status quo and will manifest a change, just like the movie, his eyes have just darted towards to safe containing the jewels, gold, and cash.

With this target identified, I am now ready to write my Weekly OATS tasks in order or rather sequence. Whatever Subby has identified as the safe behind the painting, I DO IT NOW! That becomes first on my list, the emotions and negative self-talk be damned!

In treating my weekly OATS planning this way (indeed I do mini-OATS daily planning), I am executing the Blue Print Builder Fourth paragraph: “Fourth. I have clearly written down a description of my DEFINITE CHIEF AIM in life, and I never stop trying, until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.”

I find identifying the task that Subby says is the “X” that marks the DMP manifestation spot, first thing in my week is a huge confidence builder and helps me refine my ability to hear and increasingly rely upon the 40 billion synapses Subby has access to.

I hope this helps anyone feeling they do not know what to do as they begin or even progress towards manifesting their DMP.

You have all the tools you need and the support required; remember…

Nature already has supplied me with knowledge and instinct far greater than any beast in the forest and the value of experience is overrated, usually by old men who nod wisely and speak stupidly. – Og Mandino
