Catch The Drift – Reset For The Next Wave
Since October, I have come so far. My Definite Major Purpose (DMP) resonates deeply with the purpose I have defined for my life’, and as Og Mandino reminds me—I was born into this world to fulfill it.
I often receive confirmations of this, and they strengthen my resolve. But there are also times when things don’t go as planned. An important client fails to confirm. A project proposal isn’t accepted when I need it to be. These moments can hit hard emotionally although I am getting better at managing them.
I expected more ease, a more direct path to my goal – do I have a notion that runs counter to being industrious. I have purged ‘no pain, no gain’ from my subby. Is there now a void that needs to be filled with ‘correct thinking on this matter?
This week, there were moments when I felt like I had lost my oars mid-voyage— I observed myself drifting, uncertain what the person I am becoming would do next.
Fortunately, I caught the drift and refocussed on the horizon of my destination.
So, the real question becomes:
What can I do to keep forward motion and gain momentum?
I sit with this question, resisting the urge to filter out options that seem too hard or too unfamiliar. I stay mindful of my energy, my vibration, my emotions. If I’m being honest, I wish my present reality felt easier, smoother, more pleasant.
But this much I know with absolute certainty: the waves of forward movement always come.
And when the waves subside mid journey, I will reset, do what I can, and prepare to catch the next wave.
I am learning to be happy in the journey—trusting to arrive exactly where I plan to.
The plan I also commit to revisit with hedgehog focus

Andrea, this reflection is *so real* and truly shows how much you’ve grown. That feeling of losing your oars mid-voyage? I know it well, and the way you *caught the drift*—such a catchy and perfect way to describe it—and refocused is a powerful moment of awareness.
“Is there now a void that needs to be filled with ‘correct thinking on this matter?”
That’s such a deep and self-aware question. When we remove an old belief like “no pain, no gain,” it absolutely creates space—but that space is an opportunity rather than a void. Maybe the shift isn’t about replacing it with another rigid rule, but instead embracing flow—that success isn’t about struggle, but about aligned action, persistence, and trust. Correct thinking on this could be: “The path unfolds as I stay committed, take inspired action, and trust the process. Momentum will always return.”
It’s easy to want a smoother ride, but I love how you remind yourself (and all of us) that the waves *always* come and you’re not stuck, just in the space between. Your trust in the journey and commitment to resetting when needed is proof that you’re moving exactly where you’re meant to go!
