Live It UP!
Today I shall give myself in sacrifice and work: tomorrow I have nothing to give, and there is none to receive. I live this day as if it is my last. -Og Mandino
Today was one of the happiest days of my life. I enjoyed a day full of happy girls and women at a baby shower for a Mom expecting twin girls.
My “Gifts of Giving” ideas kicked in yesterday as I shopped for pink baby outfits, two board books for preschool brothers with greeting card instructions on how to read the book to baby sisters, and cooking a batch of cookies for the children to eat, who were invited to the shower.
I teach six of the Preschool children in my Sunday School class. It was fun giving smiles, compliments, listening to others and exchanging advice on many different specialized knowledge.
I even told the Mother of expectant mom, who is office manager at a doctor’s office that she was to compliment all the staff and the doctor for their kindnesses a year ago that I observed and wrote in a post for an online class I was taking.
HEE! HEE! She was delighted and said she would tell all of them, Since the doctor took cells of Cancer four times and examined them each time and sent him to the waiting room each time, we waited a long time.
The last time the doctor came out and took my book bag, etc to take me back to him to explain how to care for his incision. We laughed about how many doctors would help you gather your coat, purse, and things and carry them back!
Those acquaintances are now friends! As the Southners say, ” I am as happy as a dead dog in the sunshine.”
Live it up doing service for others!

Joan, this post is pure joy! The way you poured so much thought and kindness into the baby shower gifts, the children, and even revisiting past moments of gratitude just radiates the *true* spirit of giving. It’s amazing how these little acts of appreciation and connection turn acquaintances into friends and make life *so much richer*. And that Southern saying? Absolutely perfect… because you’re *living it up* in the best way possible!
