Oh Sweet Child

Sweet child, when was it that you stopped running, hopping or skipping everywhere?  There was a time that you never walked. It was clear that you held the energy of the universe within you and every step you took showed its power and exuberance.

Sweet child, when was it that you stopped make believing, that the bed you slept on at night was a ship that was taking you off to explore wonderful words?

You could see, hear and smell the scenes around, you could feel the soft breath of your animal friends, you could feel the heat from that foreign sun on your face as you looked to the cotton wool clouds.  When did you forget the reality of your dreams?

Sweet child, when is it that you stopped knowing the fact that you are such a wonderful pure beautiful soul to be true?  You would hear it every day and your innocent, trusting eyes took no convincing.  When did you start to doubt the truth of it and then forget that you ever believed it?

Sweet child when did your unbound laughter, loud and full and free, body shakingly contagious, become small and silent.  When did you become embarrassed to laugh out?  When did you decide that the joy was to be contained only for you?

Sweet child, when did that embrace, the all encompassing embrace that said I love you fully, unapologetically with my entire being and I have no other thought but absolute faith that the feeling is mutual, become a sporadic short empty touch of shoulders?  When did you stop accepting the connection?

Sweet child regardless of the time that passes you know who you are.   The essence of your soul never changes.  You have all you ever had and more. Remember?

  • The last time I saw my 2 years 2 months old grand daughter was before MKE began. I am so eager to be in her presence and see her as this child and imagine what it would be like to preserve this as she grows. Thank you for sharing with us your thoughts on the innocence and limitless nature of a child.
