This week 2, I learned the importance of creating and developing good habits which would eliminate bad habits. I am a true believer in this! I started taking violin lessons this summer and promised myself to practice 2-3 hours per day and the progress has been incredible.

Just in 3-4 months, I jumped to grade 3!

One of the teachers mentioned that if I practice correctly, I don’t need that many hours of practice. So I was a bit lazy practicing and decreasing the hours of practice till my new teacher said she used to practice 12 hours when she was in her teens to get into to the prestigious music school. Wow!

This is proof of Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Outliers” in which he talked about how 10,000 hours of practice were needed for any professional musicians, athletes, and other successful people.

I trained to be a national volleyball player back home, we used to train from 6-7 am then morning train from 9-12 then afternoon train 3-6 then night train 8-9 for the 5 days of the week for 51 weeks a year and we were aged 11-18. It became a routine for us but was not easy. A few became Olympic athletes.

I have decided to work out hard every day for 45 minutes – 1 hour to reach my desired weight and be healthy and I like it that I have a blueprint now. As the week 2 practice says, I have to believe it, and do it now and do it now and do it now.
